The HR Manager/Payroll Specialist will oversee the implementation and development of the HR, Payroll and Benefits functions at our new Whitsett, NC manufacturing facility.

In this role you will develop, implement, and manage people strategies and practices that will support the advancement of Prepac's growth and operational objectives by ensuring the company is able to attract, hire, retain, and engage a loyal workforce. This is a hands-on role, that is expected to expand over the next two to three years as the facility grows.

Key Areas of Accountability:

Staff Planning, Recruitment, and Selection:

Coordinates the company's staff planning and forecasting activities and develops an ongoing recruitment strategy that ensures all teams are appropriately staffed to meet business needs

Together with Managers, plans, coordinates, and leads the process for staff recruitment in a way that promotes a positive employer brand for Prepac by outreach on various online media, screening, assessments, interviewing, selection, employment offers, and related documentation

Ensures current position profiles/descriptions are in place for all positions that includes key responsibilities, reporting relationships, training and development requirements, career development potential, and qualifications and experience required by potential candidates

Develops tools and provides instructional coaching to managers to help formalize recruitment, interviewing, and selection process

Communications and Employee Relations:

Acts as the company's resource to employees and managers/supervisors on all aspects of the employee experience; communicates policies, procedures, and programs in a way that demonstrates the company's commitment to their personal, professional and career success

Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forward; takes steps necessary to problem solve the issues to the satisfaction of all

Assists and/or participates in disciplinary meetings, suspensions, and terminations

Creates and implements a communications strategy to reinforce that Prepac is a great place to work!

Supports the company's commitment to a safety culture through participation at safety meetings and appropriate involvement in the roll-out of new safety initiatives

Oversee Payroll and Benefits Administration:

Manage bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees

Manage the vacation and banked time for employees

Oversee employee enrollment in benefits and pension plans

Acts as a point of contact for employee inquiries

Talent Retention and Development:

Determine the factors that drive retention of various employee groups; coordinates the delivery of those drivers when possible (for example, creating links between compensation, performance management, and career development for production staff, lead hands, supervisors)

Identifies, on an ongoing basis, training and development needs across the site, and coordinates training program roll-out with managers and employees; maximizes use of government grants where possible

Management Reporting

Actively participates in staff and management meetings when appropriate to provide expertise and value-added counsel on the impact of planning and decision making on people practices and achievement of business goals

Prepares and provides regular reports to the leadership team with an analysis of current staffing levels, and related recruitment activity, compensation issues, vacation scheduling, sick or personal leaves, terminations, and any other statistics that support decision making for staff planning

Provides trend analysis on employee requests, concerns or activities in order to proactively address staffing or workplace issues that may be impeding a high performing workplace

The Person:

The ideal candidate will bring:

A degree in Human Resources or a related field. PHR or SPHR certification preferred!

Experience managing full spectrum HR functions; including interactive payroll and benefits administration.

Successful candidate must have initiative, be an independent thinker, with great problem-solving skills along with an ability to work well with employees at all levels.

Minimum five years' experience in an HR Manager role, preferably in a growth-driven and manufacturing industry, reporting to senior management or ownership. Start-up or HR function development preferred!

Demonstrates the trust and approachability needed to become the go-to person for employee issues and concerns

Comprehensive knowledge of current HR, benefits, compliance, policies and practices

Capable of assessing training needs, developing and implementing training programs and evaluating their success

Expertise in recruitment and on-boarding function

Tact and diplomacy required to maintain the utmost confidentiality of information
